The National Operational Programme for "Networks and Mobility", co-financed by Italy and the European Union, is developed in the southern Italian regions of Campania, Calabria, Puglia and Sicily to speed up and improve the sustainability of the transport network. The objective of the Operational Programme is to improve rail and road connections, upgrade airports, ports and interports and integrate new smart transport systems.

The National Operational Programme for "Networks and Mobility" focuses on three Priority axes of intervention:

      - I "Development of transport and logistics infrastructure of European and national interest"
      - II "Improving the connections between the main lines, nodes and poles of the logistic structure of the Convergence areas"
      - III "Technical support"


In detail :
Priority Axis I contributes to the development of an efficient, effective and safe logistics structure of the Mediterranean, assigning the Convergence areas a strategic role in the development of lines of action of European and national interest, in view of modal rebalancing.

Axis I features four Operational Objectives and six Lines of Action: :

I.1 Promoting the development of an effective and efficient logistics system, with reference to the key infrastructure of EU interest (Corridors I and 21) I.1.1. Improvement of Corridor I “Berlin - Palermo"
I.1.2. Improvement and upgrading of port systems (Motorways of the Sea - Corridor 21)
I.2 Improving the logistics nodes complementary to the main system for the development of intermodality I.2.1. Improvement of the airport system
I.2.2. Development of nodal infrastructures for freight intermodality
I.3 Creating a technology and information system based on interoperability, with a view to improving the quality of transport services, safety standards and management methods I.3.1. Development of freight logistics information systems
I.4 Supporting and encouraging demand by private-sector logistics businesses I.4.1. Private-sector aid schemes for logistics infrastructure projects

Priority Axis II aims to improve and upgrade the safety of connections between the infrastructures of European (Corridors I and 21) and national relevance, with the objective of increasing the competitivity and usability of the logistics system.

Axis II features two Operational Objectives and six Lines of Action:

II.2.2. Development of information systems relating to the improvement and safety upgrading of the road and motorway services
II.2.3. Improvement of the equipment for improving the general safety conditions of the maritime transport services
II.2.4. Development and improvement of the technology infrastructure supporting air transport


Priority Axis III aims to improve the effectiveness of the NOP and the quality of its projects, promoting it among the general public and the beneficiaries
